Saint Valentine

Happy Valentine’s day! Or should i call it Happy Saint Valentine’s day?
Don’t raise your brow, bro. Oh, you too sis, don’t raise your brow (with essence of feminism).

Kids! Stop! Don’t go ahead. I want you to keep thinking what you think of Valentine’s day. I don’t want to ruin your childhood. So you shouldn’t know what actually Valentine’s day is (because neither did we know it as kids). Shoo! It is love day. Go celebrate it!

Adults! Let us take a glance at “Saint” Valentine’s day before you bros with our to-be bhabhis and sisters with our to-be jijas celebrate this festival of love by dumping truck-full loads of expensive, erotic, lovely, cute, sensual and blah blah gifts on your to-be better halves (i am being too positive by adding to-be, hoping you don’t dump your lover of life).

Saint Valentine was imprisoned in Rome for performing weddings for soldiers, who were forbidden to marry, and for ministering to Christians persecuted under the Roman Empire. Saint Valentine restored the vision of the daughter of the judge. Before his execution, he wrote her a letter signed as “Your Valentine”.

All what Saint Valentine did was to spread love between two people. Naah, he wasn’t a cupid who would pierce two hearts with the same arrow to make you fall in love! With two people, it can be about two people of any sex. I don’t know if Saint Valentine stood with LGBTQ community in that era, but with advancements in human life and drastic changes in time and living, he would have supported them if he was alive today.

At some places, it is celebrated as an official feast day! And those places are not in India, because we have Bajrang Dal and Zakir Khan lead #SakhtLaundas battalion in India!

I know that this one article is not gonna change your thoughts and way to celebrate the day by spending all your savings on someone who may or may not be a part of your life in the near future (shaadi-shuda logon, tumko karna padega. Tumhaara kat chuka hai, kharcha karna padega).

So! Go ahead, spread love. Don’t break hearts. Make it a day for someone for whom you feel love. Give them a Saint Valentine’s Key to your heart to unlock love (only if you know they feel the same for you, don’t be friend-zoned) and play safe because Children’s day is on 14th November.

A very happy Valentine’s day!
