No Shave November is here and social media platforms will be flooded with bearded and mustache faces from all over the world.
First of all, No Shave November has some great cause behind all the fuss. It is more than just growing your beard and mustache without a shave or a trim. It is almost mistakenly thought and celebrated as a festive month by and for the bearded and mustache men.
Let us have a look at the concept, timeline, goals and facts of No Shave November. Let us make sure that people are clear about it and they do not restrict it to just a competition of growing beard and mustaches.
A few young men in Melbourne, Australia coined the term No Shave November in 1999. Also known as Movember, the movement got its name when the Movember Foundation was founded in the year 2004. The movement has millions of active participants and followers since then.
Movember is an annual event observed round the globe and it involves the growth of mustache and beard during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.
The goal is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose. Save and donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming. The same money is used to educate people about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
Events were launched in 2017 in Ireland, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Spain, the United Kingdom, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan and the United States. Canadians were the largest contributors to the Movember charities of any nation by 2011. In 2010, Movember merged with the testicular cancer event Tacheback and In 2012, the Global Journal listed Movember as one of the world’s top 100 NGOs (non-government organization).
Men mean a lot on and to this earth. Let us save the men.
